Our Purpose

From May 25 - June 16, 2008, volunteers from Christian Student Fellowship plan to travel to the city of Cato Ridge, South Africa, which is in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. We will spend three weeks at God's Golden Acre (GGA) and will work in collaboration with them to build a new home for orphans and their new caregiver in "The Valley of a Thousand Hills," the poverty-stricken rural community where GGA is located.

In addition to engaging in construction activities during the day, we will have the opportunity to interact with the children at the orphange during the evening.  Some of the activities we have planned include a vacation Bible school, a sports day, homework tutoring, a possible abstinence program, and lots of playtime!

We need to raise almost $6000 to build the home. This is to cover all the estimated construction costs including land and materials, as well as the costs of making sure the new house is sustained for the long term and the children are cared for. We estimate it will cost an additional $1500 to furnish the home. In addition, we need to raise approximately $3000 per person to cover the cost of plane tickets, travel insurance, housing, food, and in-country travel. If you would like to find out how you can can help us reach these financial goals, please see the "Ways You Can Support Us" section on the front page.
